Happy Birthday to Me!!
This is my blog and I can wish myself Happy Birthday if I want *grin* Even if I AM a couple days late. I did try making this blog last night, as well, but it gave me some sort of error and I lost it. And seeing as it was late, I didn't have the energy to sit there and type it out again, so I'm doing it now!
The past couple weeks have been both busy and not. It all depended on the day and what was going through my head at the time. Last week, I was depressed for a bunch of it, mainly because my birthday was approaching. I just turned 30 on the 22nd, and it was a big deal for me. The only problem was, other then a very select few (Rick, Michele and Rick's Mom) no one seemed to care. I had an email conversation with Mom during the week (mine, not his) and that made me feel marginally better, but didn't erase it. Then Friday, I walked into work and my team-mates here decorated my desk for my birthday!! I have streamers and balloons all over my area... and I'm leaving them up as long as possible!! I got the card from them on Monday and Donuts yesterday, too. Donuts may not be healthy, but it's the thought that counts :)
Anyway, my spirits lifted a little on Friday coming into work. Friday night, we drove up to the cottage, and when I walked in I was bombarded with an excited Heather (Rick's niece) who wanted to tell me that we were sharing our birthday dinner with each other. This I already knew, but to be confronted full force of her excitement, helped my mood. The birthday dinner itself was on the Saturday. I was not impressed with Rick's sisters in that they did not help him make it. I don't mind helping - as I did - but you're not supposed to cook your own birthday dinner. I wish they would follow their own rules. After dinner, Rick had me open the first part of his gift - a silver locket on a chain. I've had to move it to another chain, but the locket is gorgeous. I just need to find, or make, a picture small enough to fit. I've worn it every day since.
Sunday was relaxing and we went home that night... Monday I had to work and nothing much happened. Yesterday, however, is another story. I'm in the middle of a call and one of my supervisor's comes over and says that I have a flower delivery in the hall. I looked at him, put my customer on hold and had to get him to repeat himself. He did. I had a flower delivery in the hall, and he was waiting outside the doors for me. I actually kept my customer on hold, and went out to get it riveted by how beautiful they were. I carried them in to raised eyebrows, answering unspoken questions of "Who sent them" with "I don't know yet". I ended up calling my customer back, and opening up the flowers. The card read "Happy 30th Birthday, Love Bill & Michele (hey, and I just noticed that they spelled your name right!!). My favourite flowers are gladiolas. This bouquet has purple glad's, a beautiful colour of roses and yellow/white tulips (there is one pink/purple/white tulip too), and today they are all starting to bloom. The roses were in full bloom yesterday, but the glads and tulips were still furled up. There are also purple little flowers, kinda like purple babies breath scattered through-out. All in all, it's a gorgeous arrangement. I took some pictures this morning, and will post them tonight when I download them at home.
So... instead of one day of a 30th birthday, I celebrated it for like 5. Not a bad year, I'll say. Thanks to all who helped to make it special.
Today, I'm tired... I'm doing OT for a call volume that never materialized, so I've been awake since 445am. I can't wait to get home. A quick dinner, a shower and bed. Well... I need to do the pictures before bed, but other than that, I'm going to bed early. On that note, I'm signing off. I started this thing at 12:49pm this afternoon... between calls, lunch and everything else, it's taken me this long to finish, but I'm glad I finally got it up. I'll talk to yous later...
